Godolphin snap up Xin Xu Lin
Xin Xu Lin, winner of four Group 1 races in South America, including three in his native Brazil but arguably highlighted by last year’s victory in Argentina’s Carlos Pellegrini, has been sold to race in the colours of Godolphin.
A Group 1 winning juvenile, he was also winner of both the Brazilian 2,000 Guineas and Derby and has won five of his seven starts.
The Carlos Pellegrini is widely recognised as South America’s biggest race, likened by most to Europe’s Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe and, coincidentally, the 2009 winner Interaction was third in the Group 3 Maktoum Challenge II on his UAE debut on last night.
He has a plethora of options on World Cup night, including the $10million (Dh37m) Dubai World Cup itself and Godolphin Racing Manager Simon Crisford said: “Xin Xu Lin has not long arrived in the UAE and the plan is he will be trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni and, all being well, will represent Godolphin on World Cup night.
"He is well entered up on the night, on both turf and Tapeta and we will see how he settles before making any more decisions.
“He could go straight to the big night or we might run him once before but no decisions have been made given the short time he has been in the country. We have plenty of time will make our decisions as we get to know him.”
